KeepnTrack Tip of the Week

For the week of 02.16.09

Operator Permissions

Overview

Each Operator in KeepnTrack is allowed various Permissions. These are determined generally by the Access Level and specifically in the Admin, Kiosk and Devices tabs at the bottom of the Operators window. (For an explanation of how Access Levels function please refer to the Operator Access Levels tip of the week.)

The two service modes in KeepnTrack are Administration and Kiosk. Two of the three Permissions tabs deal with these modes.

The first check box allows or denies access to Administrative functions. If this is not checked an operator would be limited to Kiosk access.

The next check box allows an Operator to review Volunteer applications. KeepnTrack has the ability for volunteers to complete an online application and this can be set up and administered in KeepnTrack.

The last check box in this section indicates weather or not this Operator has Access Control privileges. (Please refer to the Access Control tip of the week for more information on this.)

The first column of Kiosk Permissions indicate which of the 5 possible Kiosk People types will be visible and enabled in the Kiosk interface.

The Quick Menu option, indicated by Quick Links… in the Kiosk screen allows convenient access to various information and reports.

The next preference defines whether the Kiosk will run in the standard mode (refer to the above screenshot), or in the self-service mode, which has a more simplified interface. The self-service mode is useful when part of an unattended kiosk.

The next preference displays or hides the command line, shown in the above screenshot to the left of Quick Links… This is reserved for future capabilities.

The next preference turns automatic badge printing on or off for visitors when in the Self Service Kiosk mode.

The final Kiosk preference is whether or not you want exception email and/or SMS notices sent from a self-service kiosk. Exception notices are created when a match is found on the sex offender database and an alert email address or SMS number has been added to the account alert preferences.

The final set of preferences are for the Device Preferences.  These preferences allow you to enable use of the ID Scanner or the Twin Turbo Printer. If you are using the ID Scanner there is a preference to display the default US state for those signing into a kiosk. If you are using the Twin Turbo printer there is a preference to enable the Twin Turbo and to indicate which roll (right or left) is the default roll.
